Services

Non-fiction copywriting, copyediting and proofreading services

So what does a copywriter do? Different services offer different levels of intervention.

If you’re not sure exactly what you need, drop me a line and we can have a chat about what’s going to work best for you.

Copywriting and rewriting

Finding the right words for your audience.

You know what you want to say, but you can’t find the words. You’re either staring at a blank page or you’ve tweaked the words so many times you’re back where you started. Or you’re facing a deadline and you just don’t have time for this right now. Then this is the service for you.

If you ask me to copywrite or rewrite your content I will:

  • Listen to your brief
  • Work with you to find the right tone of voice to connect with your audience
  • Make sure your voice and personality come through clearly
  • Provide clear, easily readable text for your busy audience – whether they’re reading online or in print
  • Deliver correct spelling, punctuation and grammar throughout.

    Copyediting

Making sure that your words achieve exactly what you want them to.

The basics are there but it needs tweaking. You know that the message could be clearer but you’re running out of time. Or you can’t put your finger on why it isn’t working and could do with a second pair of eyes to take a look. Then this is the service for you.

If you ask me to copyedit your content then, in addition to the proofreading list below, I will:

    • Make sure that your communication is attractive and clear to your target audience
    • Check that your style and language are consistent throughout
    • Correct any little errors that could undermine the professionalism or credibility of your message
    • Ensure factual accuracy.

    Proofreading

Making sure your copy is right first time, every time.

You’re almost there. You’re happy with your copy, but you’ve looked at it so many times it’s beginning to blur. You want to be totally confident that there are no tiny mistakes to undermine your vital first impression. Then this is the service for you.

If you ask me to proofread your content, then I will check:

    • Spelling, punctuation and grammar
    • Consistent use of capitalisation, hyphenation and terminology
    • Consistency of formatting and typography
    • Layout and images
    • Application of house style (if supplied).

    How it works

    1. Get a personalised quote. Tell me what you need and, if it’s editing or proofreading, let me have a sample of the content. I’ll take a look at the sample, clarify any queries and provide a personalised quote for your project. For guidance on editing and proofreading costs, you can see CIEP’s recommended minimum rates here. For guidance on copywriting costs, you can see ProCopywriters’ recommended rates here.
    2. Book your place. Once you decide to go ahead, payment of a 50% non-refundable booking fee secures your place in my schedule. Send me the full material prior to the agreed start date.
    3. Receive your copy or edited/proofread material. I will write/edit/proofread your copy and return it in your preferred format along with a style sheet and your final invoice.
    4. Any final queries. If I have left any queries on your copy, please respond within 2 weeks and I will update and re-send your final file.

She made me challenge myself...then helped me to present this in the best possible light Tracy did a great job of reviewing my website when I first set up my business. She provided really insightful feedback on the language and tone of voice used, and really made me think about how I sell my skills (something that does not come naturally to me!) She made me challenge myself on what I am good at and then helped me to present this in the best possible light. She responded quickly to any queries and was great to work with. I would thoroughly recommend her services.
